Texas does not levy personal or business income tax.
The State levies a sales and use tax on retail sales and services of 6.25%. Municipalities, counties and transit authorities can level additional sales tax, however the maximum amount of sales tax charged cannot exceed 8.25% per state statute.
Harris County, in addition to school districts, public safety districts, utility districts and other special improvement districts, levies ad valorem taxes on the value of real and personal property.
